Course Structure
There are 6 themed topic forums (with a workshop and follow up 1-2-1 sessions for those identified through the forums as needing additional support and guidance). There are also ‘building bridges’ sessions to introduce the participants to the project and to previous participants who will help support them through the project aims, objectives and events.
Content/Syllabus
The forums are structured around the aims and objectives of the PREVENT strategy and cover topics around Extremism, Vulnerability, Radicalisation, Integration, Internet Safety/ Social Media usage and Empowerment as they impact on families and the communities. Local and national events are looked at in this context to see how participants can help to develop positive narratives to support themselves and their communities to be resilient to the impact of these events.
Length of Course:
The forums and building bridges are stand alone events although it planned that participants would attend all forums in the year.
Days/Hours/Times:
These vary throughout the year so please enquire for current/ planned times.
Benefits:
The learners will benefit by gaining confidence through understanding what ‘vulnerability’ and ‘radicalisation’ are and how they can affect their families and communities. This knowledge and skills will help them to challenge these issues where they occur and understand the support systems in this area and how to access them. They will understand the dangers and impacts of international issues on the country and their communities. A better understanding of the dangers of the internet and social media also helps protect themselves and their families.
