Studying at City College Nottingham is hugely rewarding. We don’t want money worries to hold you back, so the College’s Student Funding team is here to give you any advice you need. We understand that student finance can be very confusing, but we’re here to help explain all the different options for you and let you know about all the different grants, loans and funding options that will help you afford the perfect course.
We’ll do everything we can to help you to be amazing and learn some incredible skills. Fees, finance and funding are all different depending on the type of course you’re studying. Just select the appropriate option below, and you’ll find lots of help and advice available.
If you are aged 19 to 23 and doing your first Level 3 course you could get a course free if you are eligible. If you do need to fund the course, many people do so by taking out an Advanced Learner Loan. Information on the terms of these loans, eligibility and how to apply can be found at gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan/overview
If you are struggling with an application, the college’s Careers team are available to help throughout enrollment and into the new term.
The most important thing to know about finance and funding if you’re 16-18 years old, is that you won’t have to pay any course fees or exam costs. During your time with us, there may be other things you have to pay for, including travel to and from college, food and drinks if you’re on campus, and any additional costs for course kits or equipment, field trips, or residential visits. You might need to plan ahead and budget for these, but depending on your circumstances, we have some financial support programmes that could help. If you have any questions or concerns about finance and funding, then please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Careers and Welfare team, who’ll be able to help you understand all your available options.
For anyone applying to college who is over 19 years old, some tuition fees and exam fees might apply. However, there are a number of opportunities to help you reduce or eliminate costs. The funding you can claim will depend on your personal circumstances and the course you are studying. This includes both study awards and special loans for the cost of your tuition. You do have the option to pay the fees yourself and the main reception on your site can provide payment options. A deposit will be required. If you have any questions or concerns about finance and funding, then please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Careers and Welfare team, who’ll be able to help you understand all your available options.
